CLUB VIRAGO WA (Inc) NEWSLETTER JAN 2004 EDITION

From the President’s Desk

Hi everyone. What a great turnout for the Whitfords Nodes Family Picnic Day! Thank you Vet and Flash for planning and pre-running the ride. It was a great route for promoting the club on Australia Day as many had patriotically dressed-up their bikes in Australian Flags, animals and other Australiana while many got into the spirit by wearing Australian outfits/shirts (see the ride report for more detail). Thanks also to our Club Members of the year, Calamity and Swagman, who went early and set up the barbecues and picnic site for all of us to enjoy. Congratulations to:

a) Best Dressed Bike (and biker): Les, who not only decorated his bike but wore his dry- as-a-bone’ outback coat and surrounded his helmet with fly-swatting’ corks. This looked great but apparently was a little noisy inside the helmet as he traveled along I guess future website reports will inform us of any permanent brain damage.

b) Best Dressed Adults: Chez, who wore the ‘truesblue ocker’ denim shorts, sandshoes, Australian shirt, mask and hat; and Giggles, who had made a Australian tea-towel top (very interesting during our volleyball game I’m glad you were on my team Karen) and, you guessed it, another mask (eat your heart out Ned Kelly).

c) Best dressed Kids: The entire dozen or so. By the time of the judging most were wearing the extremely well-known Australian costume of bathers. Well done all you junior Viragoites. thanks for sharing in volleyball, frizbie throwing, cricket, swimming, eating, drinking, stirring up the ‘oldies’ (we tried) etc Congratulations to our new licencee’s and bike owner’s on their virgin’ ride (Yes! yes! Keep it clean there could be children reading this). It was great to see so many visitors and members join us for this day and I look forward to seeing you, and the rest of you, on Jacko’s weekender away to Kojonup on the 21st, 22nd February.

Remember, you are the most important person in this club.

For the ride of your life, stay on top!

Puss n Boots.

Australia Day Ride Jan. 2004

What a great day, it started out with the WA. Sun beaming out all over

our beautiful City

We headed off from Hungry Jacks at South Perth with 24Bikes and 31 People

in total with a few new faces ~4ñeh was great to see and a couple of faces

discretely disguised by Aus Day masks, and our illustrious leader apologies

for not recognising Sheza and Giggles, we turned right onto Canning Hwy and

down to Fremantle foreshore after being annoyed by too many traffic lights we

Kruzed through the Capo strip down south street around Sealanes then onto

theEsplanade along the foreshore viewing all the beautiful young sites.

Once through Fremantle we Kruzed past Leighton beach around Cottesloe Beach

viewing many more lovely young sites as we went, (and who said our ride

leader was tooo old never), we then turned up the coast and along City beach

,where the white pointers on the beach must have been toooo much for Peter

as he forgot to stop and ran into Kevin.

After that little excursion we went through Scarborough again turning along

the Coast and Yes you guessed it, the ride leader was at it again, say no

more.

When he finally got us to Whitfords Nodes we set up camp and settled into

lunch arid a game of Volley Ball which I might add was won by the Geriatrics

"B" team defeating the Geriatrics’" team by an unmentionable score.

All in all a great day was had by all Until we tide again
